4th of July

Independence Day, July 4th, is a momentous occasion in our nations history. We in the United States of America celebrate this day with trips to the beach, vacations, and fireworks. Please have a joyous and safe 4th of July.

Sunscreen:
Sunscreen should be applied and re-applied after a couple hours in the sun for all children and adults when expecting significant direct sunlight exposure like at the beach or pool. Do not purchase sunscreen and bug spray combination – you should not reapply bug spray multiple times a day.

Water safety:
Please for those who are not great swimmers, utilize life-jackets or other floatation devices. If at the beach, please be aware of ripe tides, what they look like from the beach and what to do if caught in one. Many people die in the Gulf of Mexico at the beach being caught in a rip tide, or trying to save someone in a rip tide.

Fireworks:
While everyone enjoys watching and shooting fireworks, please supervise children. They are impulsive and sometimes do not think before acting. Fireworks should be handled with care and everyone can enjoy them.

Our pediatricians, Dr. Elofson, Dr. Fakouri, Dr. Perilloux and Dr. Cook are here for the minor injuries such as burns, cuts, scrapes … if needed. Please contact us in Baton Rouge at (225) 928-0867 for any questions or appointments.

From all of here who take care of infants, babies, children, teens and young adults – please have a safe and happy 4th of July!!!
